Children's Dentistry

Bringing your child in for their first dental visit is a milestone, and Surrey Hills Dental is honored to be a part of it. This important first step should occur when the first baby tooth appears but no later than their first birthday.

The Path to Happy, Healthy Smiles

Many parents wonder why we recommend starting so early. Introducing your child to dental care early is vital for their oral health and development. These first appointments also help your child adapt to a new environment and develop a positive view of dental visits.

Baby teeth also play a crucial role in helping your child chew their first solid foods, learn to speak, and create a path for permanent teeth. These early visits also benefit parents; they're an opportunity to demonstrate proper oral hygiene for your child and for you to ask questions about habits like bottle-feeding or thumb-sucking.

Creating a Positive Experience

At Surrey Hills Dental, we ensure your child's first visit is comfortable and positive. The goal is to put you and your child at ease about the process and create a trusting relationship right from the start. We aim for a fun, educational visit so your child leaves our Yukon, OK, dental office with a smile.

Dental Implants

We are pleased to offer dental implant services for patients looking for long-term tooth replacement. Dr. Brandon Onley has over 15 years of experience and is skilled at placing and restoring dental implants at our Yukon, OK, dental office.

How Do Dental Implants Work?

An implant is a small titanium screw that Dr. Onley expertly places in your jawbone under local anesthesia. The implant acts as a replacement tooth root, and over the next several months, bone and tissue grow around it, making it as stable as a natural tooth root. The implant's stability after healing allows us to attach a crown, bridge, or denture to restore your smile’s appearance and chewing ability.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

Dental implants offer numerous benefits over other tooth replacement options:

  • Can last a lifetime with proper care.
  • Designed to look, feel, and function like natural teeth.
  • Stimulate the jawbone, preventing bone loss that often occurs with missing teeth.
  • Allows you to eat, speak, and smile confidently and won’t slip or shift like removable dentures.

Are You a Good Implant Candidate?

If you’re considering dental implants as a solution for tooth loss, Dr. Onley and the team at Surrey Hills Dental would love to be part of your journey. Please call our Yukon, OK, dental office to schedule a consultation appointment to get started.

Family Dentistry

At Surrey Hills Dental, we prioritize your health and aesthetics by exclusively using composite fillings, avoiding amalgam (mercury) fillings altogether.

The Advantages of Composite Fillings

Composite fillings use a tooth-colored resin that blends naturally with the rest of your tooth, providing a seamless, aesthetic repair. Unlike amalgam fillings that contain mercury and other metals, composites are metal-free, which means they won't change color over time or stand out when you smile or speak.

Why Choose Composite Fillings?

Another benefit of composite fillings is that we bond the material directly to the tooth structure to strengthen it. This helps protect against fracture that can occur with amalgam fillings that simply rest in the cavity and can weaken the tooth’s integrity over time.

Composite fillings also require less removal of tooth structure, so we can preserve more of your natural tooth. Health and safety is another consideration for many patients. While amalgam fillings are approved for use in dental practices, some people are concerned about the presence of mercury in their mouths, so we don’t use it.

Do You Need a Tooth Filling?

If you have a cavity and want a minimally invasive solution, tooth-colored composite fillings are a great choice. Call Surrey Hills Dental to see how our Yukon dentist can restore your smile with a virtually invisible tooth repair.

Preventive Dentistry

Even if your family is diligent with at-home oral hygiene, routine professional teeth cleanings are essential for optimal oral health. This routine preventive service goes beyond what you can achieve with brushing and flossing.

Our skilled hygienists use specialized instruments to gently and effectively clean plaque and tartar from hard-to-reach areas in your mouth, such as between teeth. Without routine teeth cleanings, plaque and tartar build up, eventually leading to cavities and gum disease.

Detecting and Treating Gum Disease Early

Gum disease affects nearly 50 percent of adults over age 30. One reason it’s so prevalent is that the symptoms are so subtle in their early stages that they may go unnoticed until your hygienist catches them during a routine cleaning.

Early detection is critical to preventing the progression of gingivitis (early gum disease) to the advanced form called periodontitis. In this stage, gums pull away from your teeth, and you are at increased risk for tooth loss.

Regular cleanings allow us to provide prompt treatment, keeping your gums healthy and your teeth firmly in place.

SureSmile® Clear Aligners

Surrey Hills Dental is pleased to offer SureSmile® aligners, similar to Invisalign® and an excellent alternative for straightening teeth.

SureSmile clear aligners are an excellent option for adults and teens who prefer not to wear traditional metal braces. This treatment approach corrects most of the same alignment issues as braces, including crooked, gapped, or overlapped teeth or certain bite issues.

Advantages of Choosing Clear Aligners

SureSmile aligners are custom-made using precise imaging technology to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit. They are crystal-clear and virtually invisible so you can smile confidently throughout treatment. The aligners are also removable, allowing you to easily eat all the foods you love and brush and floss.

Who Can Benefit from Clear Aligner Therapy?

Clear aligners are appropriate for anyone with mild to moderate alignment issues looking for an almost invisible treatment method. While it's a fantastic option for many, a consultation with Dr. Onley will determine if SureSmile® is the best solution for your needs.
